You can fly to Oamaru or you can drive. Regrettably our beautiful Oamaru Railway Station, a must-see heritage building, no longer has passenger trains passing through and our heritage harbour stopped getting passenger ships over fifty years ago….but it’s still worth a visit to see the stunning wharves and waterfront.

Regular Air New Zealand commercial flights operate to and from Oamaru Airport where a 40 minute flight takes you to Christchurch to connect with domestic and international flights.

State Highway 1, the main highway throughout the South Island, passes through Oamaru just 3 hours drive south from Christchurch or one hour and a half hours north from Dunedin.

It’s pretty simple getting to Oamaru.
