Alf's Army

Alfs Imperial Army is a creation of The Wizard of New Zealand...it is a response to fanatasism and people who take themselves too seriously. While looking remarkably like a British Infantry re-enactment group of the High Victorian period, Alfs is a parody of militarism and ideological extremism.

In a world of violent conformist individuals, Alfs enjoy the irony of hierrachial role playing in an agressive, gentlemanly nonviolent manner.

Alfs Army go about the country or alternatively sit and wait for any action that might be taken as an excuse to wage war on behalf of the Queen and Empire. Enemies usually present themselves as republicans, trendies, school girls, political parties, volunteer fireman or any one who enjoys the pleasure of nonviolent warefare. This entails highly colourful battles (where no one is hurt)using paper swords and flour bombs.

Oamaru is home to two regiments of Alfs Imperial Army, the Eight Whitestone Grenadiers & Nursing Corps, and the elite N.O.H.O.P.E.R.s.

Membership is open to sane people over the age of 18. There are "rules" which generally concern keeping in character and paying subscription fees that pay for uniforms and events. For more information write to:
