Gardens And Parks

Oamaru’s Public Gardens take pride of place in the district’s collection of green spaces. The Waitaki District Council aims to provide urban reserves within walking distance of every home. In addition to the Public Gardens, the Council maintains and protects 260ha of parks and reserves located throughout the district. Smaller gardens include Harbourside Gardens at the Historic Precinct, Jones Park on the corner of Itchen and Thames Streets and the Garden of Memories one the corner of Itchen and Severn Streets. These are well tended and offer visitors ample opportunity to enjoy the peace and tranquility of our natural environment.
