We're a one-stop shop. People like that.

Be careful when you walk across the car park towards the Kurow Winery, especially if you're a wine lover. You might find your nose starts dancing, seduced by the wonderful aroma of grapes fermenting that literally leads you, by the nose, to the Cellar Door. That's where you can sample as many as 10 of the Winery's range for just $5 - and tuck into a tasty platter too.

"Not many people are a one-stop shop," says Diana Turner, who's managed the Cellar Door since it opened in 2009. 'But we are. We grow the grapes. We make the wine. We bottle it. We ship it round the world. And we serve it here. People like that.

They come especially for the experience."

And the wines, two of which - both Pinot Gris - won Silver Medals at this year's Royal Easter Show while another, the Pasquale Riesling Dry has picked up a 5 Star rating in Cuisine magazine. No wonder Kurow Winery attracts visitors from cosmopolitan places like Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, England, Canada, India and Geraldine. 60 ks from Oamaru, on SH83, Kurow Winery - where the winning wines come from. Taste ‘em. You're bound to go Bacchus again.

P.S. Even if you don't need to use them, check out the Cellar Door loos. They make Buckingham Palace look like a backpackers!!
