Oamaru Railway StationThis wooden building which now houses an artists' work space and gallery, was designed by George Troup and built in 1900. It was Oamaru's second station and typified the town's move north from the old Tyne Street business area. Its 700-seat dining room was the largest in the South Island. At its peak, eight passenger trains with over 5000 people passed through the station in a single day. The passenger service closed in 2002.
